Warning, this is going to get lengthy! I’ve been lucky enough to have a Helix and an Axe FX 3 side by side the last couple weeks. Both do a lot of things very well, but after I’ve is a great unit as been using my Axe Fx 2 since 2012 before plugins were competitive whatsoever. I like to use the axe fx because it saves processing power and I can also go play live with it.

For me the biggest reason to pick an Axe-Fx 3 over the 2 is not because the 2 sounds bad, it certainly does not. But the Axe-Fx 3 is significantly easier to use from the front
First, yes, the modeling is better. Second, the AXE II is a great unit as well and if you don’t need the latest and greatest or see the need for more processing power, then you live with it I figure maybe in 3-5 years I’ll get the newest version of the axe-fx thats out and i’ll use this one as my backup.
